Tabibu Soar Initiative was conceptualized in 2023 by Dr. Kibiwott Obadiah during a medical class discussing infectious diseases, where Baringo County was highlighted. As a member of that community, he was moved to act.
On May 4, 2024, with limited resources and the support of a few colleagues, he organized the first highly successful medical camp in Koitebes Village, Baringo County. Inspired by this impact, he formally founded the Tabibu Soar Initiative.

Dr. Kibiwott Obadiah is the vision bearer of Tabibu Soar Initiative. He is a dynamic leader and the architect of the vision "care through research". Tabibu Soar Initiative aims to bridge the healthcare inequalities in arid and semiarid areas of the region.
The initiative was conceptualised in 2023, during an Internal Medicine class learning about infectious diseases and one county came up: Baringo. As a member of that community, he decided to act. On the 4th May 2024 with limited resources and the support of a few colleagues he organised the first medical camp in Koitebes Village Baringo county which was an outstanding success. Inspired he founded the Tabibu Soar Initiative.
Since then the organisation has grown in leaps and bounds, recently in partnership with Kwangju Hospital South Korea, the team organised a medical camp that served more than 6,000 patients. He is particularly interested in Health leadership and the field of pediatrics and child health.
Hon. Simon Kiprono Chelugui, EGH, is a distinguished Kenyan statesman and seasoned public servant with an illustrious career in national leadership and public policy. He is widely respected for his commitment to inclusive development, social protection, cooperative growth, and sustainable management of natural resources.
Hon. Chelugui has served the Republic of Kenya with distinction as Cabinet Secretary for Water and Irrigation, where he provided strategic leadership in water resource management, irrigation development, sanitation, and climate resilience. He later served as Cabinet Secretary for Gender and Social Protection, and as Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
In recognition of his exemplary service to the nation, Hon. Simon Kiprono Chelugui was awarded the Elder of the Golden Heart (EGH), one of Kenya's highest national honours. As the Patron of the Tabibu Soar Initiative, he supports initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare access, nurturing young health professionals, and promoting community-based health solutions.
Cynthia Jerop Lagat is the Chief Executive Officer of Tabibu Soar Initiative, leading the organization in turning vision into action through impactful community health programs. She guides strategy, operations, and partnerships to ensure sustainable and measurable results.
A medical student at Egerton University, Cynthia brings a strong passion for community health and preventive care. Her leadership blends medical training with youth-driven innovation to advance accessible, community-centered healthcare solutions.
Joash Kibet is the Secretary General and Co-Founder of Tabibu Soar Initiative, where he provides leadership in governance, administration, and strategic coordination. He oversees official documentation, organizational communication, policy implementation, and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
With a background in health and community service, Joash is deeply committed to improving access to healthcare and empowering communities through sustainable, grassroots initiatives. He has actively contributed to community outreach, health awareness programs, and organizational development.
As Secretary General, he ensures effective coordination between leadership, project teams, and partners while promoting transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making in all organizational activities.
Birech Dorcas, the Treasurer of Tabibu Soar Initiative, brings integrity, vision, and meticulous management, ensuring the organization's resources are used effectively and its programs run smoothly.
Beyond her administrative role, her passion lies in care through research understanding the roots of health challenges and preventing them through education. Giving back to the community has been at the heart of her journey, and her experiences in medical camps have been deeply impactful.
She looks forward to organizing even greater impact camps that inspire, empower, and transform communities.
Dominic is an avid researcher, medical doctor and a scientific writer. He is an aspiring Physician-Scientist with a particular interest in Molecular oncology and Translational research. He is passionate about the power of locally generated African health data in informing policies and creating adaptable solutions.
A founding member and the research coordinator at Tabibu Soar Initiative, Dr Lochomoi leads and coordinates all research and data collection activities as well as ensures research projects aligns with the organization's mission and ethical standards. He also prepares periodic research reports and advises the management on evidence-based strategies.
As part of dedicated and dynamic team, Dominic aims to use his skills to bridge scientific research and patient care in order to reach vulnerable populations.
Nicole Korir is a Medical student at Egerton University with a strong interest in community health and public service. Experienced in working with NGOs through medical outreach camps across the country, providing care to underserved communities.
Currently serving as Secretary of Tabibu Soar Initiative, supporting coordination and community-focused health programs. Passionate about improving access to quality healthcare and making meaningful impact through service.
Shyyanne Sirya serves as the Logistics and Procurement Director at Tabibu Soar Initiative, where she oversees the planning, sourcing, and distribution of goods and services in support of organizational programs.
She ensures that procurement and logistics processes are efficient, transparent, and compliant with organizational policies. She plays a key role in ensuring the timely availability of resources, effective coordination of logistics, and responsible use of funds, contributing to smooth operations and the successful implementation of community-based initiatives.
Douglas Kipruto is the Logistics and Procurement Manager at Tabibu Soar Initiative. He is a hardworking and reliable professional responsible for coordinating procurement and logistics operations to ensure efficiency and timely delivery.
Douglas works well with people and is known for his collaborative approach, supporting smooth operations across the organization. His dedication ensures that resources are available when and where they are needed for the organization's medical camps and community programs.
Frank Kibet serves as the Media Director at Tabibu Soar Initiative, where he leads visual and communication efforts to support community health promotion in underserved and hard-to-reach areas.
His role focuses on designing and coordinating health education posters and media materials for medical camps and outreach programs. He works closely with medical teams and partner institutions to translate health information into clear, culturally appropriate visuals.
Through strategic media planning and consistent branding, he helps enhance community engagement, increase program visibility, and support partnerships aimed at improving public health outcomes.
Cheruiyot Elly is a passionate medical student and emerging healthcare leader dedicated to improving community health through medical outreach and sustainable health initiatives.
As the Assistant Vice Chairperson of Tabibu Soar Initiative and an MBChB Candidate at Egerton University, he serves a community-based organization focused on delivering medical camps and expanding access to care in underserved regions.
He is driven by the vision of combining leadership and innovation to strengthen healthcare systems and impact lives at the grassroots level.
Alex Ngeny is an MBChB student at Egerton University with a strong passion for community health, leadership, and youth-driven health initiatives. He is a founding member of Tabibu Soar Initiative, an organisation committed to empowering communities through health education, preventive medicine, mentorship of young healthcare professionals and care through research.
Within Tabibu Soar Initiative, he serves as the Organising Secretary, where he plays a key role in coordinating activities, planning and execution of programs, documentation, and communication among members and stakeholders.
As part of his professional responsibilities, he is a Clinical Officer at Mogotio Sub-County Hospital, working under the Ministry of Health as a Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Officer. His experience spans both academic and community-based settings, enhancing his skills in leadership, organisation, health advocacy, and stakeholder collaboration.
